The Toshiba MG04 in This Range
The MG04ACA200NY is a 2TB 7200 RPM SATA drive in the 3.5-inch form factor from Toshiba's MG enterprise capacity family. The model code breaks down in a useful way: MG04 is the generation, ACA marks the SATA interface and 200 is the capacity. MG drives are rated for continuous 24/7 operation and much higher annual workloads than desktop disks, which is why they show up in small business NAS units, surveillance recorders and entry level storage servers.
When a 2TB Nearline Drive Is the Right Choice
Not every replacement should be the largest drive available. Many RAID controllers and NAS units expect every member of a volume to share the same capacity, and adding a larger disk simply wastes the extra space until every drive is upgraded. A like for like 2TB replacement restores redundancy immediately without a migration project. For sequential workloads such as backup and recording, a 7200 RPM SATA drive is entirely adequate.
