IBM Drive Options and Caddies
IBM server drives are supplied in hot-swap, simple-swap and G2HS/G3HS caddy configurations, and these are not interchangeable between chassis generations. A drive with the correct capacity and interface will still fail to seat if the caddy type does not match your server. IBM part numbers such as 00D5317, 45W7766, 90Y8782 and 00NA492 identify the exact drive and tray combination, which is why we list by part number rather than by specification alone.
Spares for Legacy IBM Systems
Many IBM System x servers remain in production long after IBM stopped supplying parts for them, and the Lenovo transition split the support path further.
