Consumer Enterprise Hard Drives
These are desktop and laptop-class drives, correct for workstations and light duty and wrong behind a RAID controller. We will say so if your use case needs an enterprise drive.
What these drives are for
Workstations, laptops, test benches, single-drive appliances and machines that are not running continuously. At light duty they are perfectly reliable and considerably cheaper per gigabyte than an enterprise drive.
What they are not for
RAID arrays, NAS enclosures with several bays, servers or anything running 24/7. Consumer drives use extended error recovery, which means a controller waiting on a bad sector will eventually mark the drive as failed and drop it from the array.
