Industrial label printers in this class typically weigh around 20 lbs. Built for continuous production, not bursts

Five languages: replacing a mixed fleet without rewriting anything

SBPL is SATO's native language. SZPL, SDPL, SIPL and STCL emulate the command sets of Zebra, Datamax, Intermec and TEC printers respectively.

Most warehouses and factories have accumulated printers from different vendors over a decade or more, each with its own label templates maintained by whoever was there at the time. Consolidating onto one brand normally means rewriting all of them, which is the reason such projects stall.

Five inches of media width is wider than it looks

The CL4NX Plus accepts media up to 5 inches wide while printing to 4.1 inches. That is a wider media capacity than most 4-inch industrial printers, which typically cap around 4.5 inches.

The extra width accommodates label stock with generous liner margins, and more usefully it handles die-cut media and tag stock whose backing is wider than the printable face. Anyone who has tried to run a specific tag stock through a printer that physically will not accept the roll knows why this matters.

Design artwork against the 4.1 inch print width regardless. The media width figure tells you what fits the mechanism, not what the printhead can mark, and confusing the two is the most common label design error.

Media types cover labels, tags, wristbands and continuous stock, so healthcare applications printing patient wristbands are within scope alongside standard industrial labelling.

The colour display earns its place

A 3.5 inch colour LCD on an industrial printer is not decoration. Calibration, media type selection, network configuration and diagnostics all happen on that screen, and an operator who can read a clear error message resolves a media jam or a calibration fault themselves.
