Samsung Releases Stable One UI 9.0 for Galaxy S26 Series

Samsung Electronics Co. (KRX: 005930) began rolling out the stable One UI 9.0 update for the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra, closing a beta programme that ran for roughly five months.

The release is based on Android 17 and includes the September 2026 security patch. It went live first in South Korea, with firmware version S94xNKSU4BZ16 and a download of around 550MB for existing beta testers. Samsung has said the rollout will expand to other countries over the following days.

The timeline explains the wait. Samsung opened the One UI 9 beta for the S26 line in May and shipped seven beta builds for the S26 and S26+ and eight for the Ultra before finalising. One UI 9 itself launched on 22 July alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, with foldables receiving the stable build first from 7 August.

Older devices are moving in parallel. Beta builds have reached the Galaxy S25, S24, S23 and Z Fold 7 lines, with the S24 beta opening in the United States, India, South Korea and the United Kingdom. Samsung dropped Germany and Poland from the beta programme during the cycle.

The update adds Android 17, expanded interface customisation and a set of AI features that were previously exclusive to the Z Fold 8, alongside contextual calling tools and revised home screen customisation.

Support windows differ across the line. Samsung has said the S26 flagships will receive major upgrades through Android 23, while the S26 FE continues through Android 24.
