Super Micro Computer Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI) traded 7.3% higher on 13 September without a company specific announcement, moving with a wider AI server rally that also lifted Hewlett Packard Enterprise Co. (NYSE: HPE) and Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE: DELL) after Oracle capital expenditure guidance pointed to stronger demand.

The move rests on a materially changed set of reported numbers. Supermicro announced unaudited results for its fourth quarter and full fiscal year ended 30 June on 11 August. Net sales reached $11.1 billion, against $10.2 billion in the prior quarter and $5.8 billion a year earlier.

Margin is where the shift is clearest. Gross margin came in at 17.5%, against 9.9% in the third quarter and 9.5% in the same quarter a year earlier. Net income was $1,178 million, up from $483 million sequentially and $195 million a year earlier, with diluted earnings of $1.62 per share against $0.31. Operating cash flow for the quarter was $747 million.

Analyst positioning is split. Needham restated a Buy rating with a $46 target on 12 August. Rosenblatt Securities raised its target to $51 from $45 with a Buy rating the same day. Barclays set a $39 target with an Equal Weight rating.

Supermicro designs and manufactures in house in the United States, Taiwan and the Netherlands, and builds server, storage, switch and edge systems around its Data Center Building Block Solutions approach.
