HP and Lenovo Device Price Increases Take Effect September 15

HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) and Lenovo Group Ltd. raised device prices effective 15 September, according to channel tracking published by IT services firm MCPC, which attributes the dates to manufacturer and distribution partner communications rather than a public price list.

Buyers should treat the percentages circulating in trade coverage as reported rather than confirmed. Where a manufacturer letter is not public, the figure, the date and the publication reporting it should all be named, and the actual notice requested from an authorised partner before a budget is set against it.

The direction of travel is not in dispute. Dell Technologies Inc. (NYSE: DELL) repriced its commercial PC portfolio on 3 August and its server, networking and storage lines on 4 August. Microsoft Surface increases reached full distribution on 1 August at roughly 11% on average. Cisco raised list prices twice earlier in the year.

The cause is memory. AI data centre demand has absorbed DRAM and NAND supply, and HP executives have said memory now accounts for roughly 35% of a typical laptop's build cost, against a historical range of 15% to 18%. Manufacturer guidance points to continued volatility through the end of 2026 and into 2027.

One term loosened rather than tightened. Dell extended quote validity to 30 days, the first easing of quote terms since the cycle began in December.

For buyers, the practical effect is that refurbished and open box enterprise hardware now sits against a rising new equipment baseline. Tech Seller USA supplies tested HP, HPE, Lenovo and Dell hardware with exact OEM part numbers and condition stated on every line.
