Yes. Tell us the operating temperature range and whether washdown occurs and we will specify cold-rated and sealed units rather than standard equipment.
What is the difference between rugged and washdown-rated?
Rugged means built to survive drops. Washdown means sealed against water and dust ingress. A device that is merely rugged is not sealed against a hose, and seafood processing washes down harder than most food environments.
Why does our scanning equipment not last a season?
Usually because standard equipment was supplied into a cold, wet or washdown environment. Specifying correctly at purchase is far cheaper than replacing every season.
Why do labels lift off frozen product?
Adhesive failure. Adhesives are rated for the temperature they are applied at and the temperature they are stored at, and those are frequently different. Both have to be specified.
What label media works in wet and frozen conditions?
A facestock that survives moisture and handling, an adhesive rated for both application and storage temperature, and thermal transfer with a resin ribbon rather than direct thermal.
What media survives outdoor field asset tagging?
Cold, wind, ice and handling destroy direct thermal quickly. Thermal transfer with a resin ribbon on a weather-rated facestock is the usual answer β tell us the exposure and expected life.

What storage suits seismic and resource datasets?
High-capacity CMR nearline drives in a double-parity array, with tape behind them. Those datasets are large and sequential and are read far more than written.
Do you supply LTO tape drives and media?
Yes β LTO-6, LTO-7, LTO-8 and LTO-9 drives and media, plus autoloaders and libraries from HPE StoreEver, IBM, Quantum and Overland. Tape matters here, because restoring over a constrained connection is slow.
Which LTO generations are backwards compatible?
LTO drives generally read two generations back and write one generation back, with limits that changed from LTO-8 onward. Tell us the drive and the media you hold.

What is the difference between read intensive and mixed use SSDs?
Endurance. Read intensive drives are rated around 1 DWPD; mixed use is typically 3 DWPD for databases and virtualisation. A read intensive drive in a write-heavy role wears out early β and replacing it here is expensive.
What is sector format and why does it matter?
512n, 512e and 4Kn describe how a drive presents its sectors. Mixing formats in one array is refused or unpredictable, and it frequently surfaces during a rebuild rather than at installation.
Should I avoid SMR drives in an array?
Yes, always. SMR write performance collapses part-way through sustained writes, and a rebuild onto an SMR drive can fail outright. We state CMR or SMR on every listing.
Can you tell me the drive hours before I buy?
Yes. The drive reports it exactly and we check before listing.
Do you supply RAID controllers and cache batteries?

Calibration. The printer detects label boundaries with a sensor, and changing media size, liner or gap requires recalibrating.
