Sector format. 512n, 512e and 4Kn are not interchangeable in an array, and the problem usually surfaces during a rebuild rather than at installation.
Memory rank and type. RDIMM and LRDIMM do not mix, and populating more ranks per channel can force the whole bank to downclock.
Processor pairing. Both sockets need matching models, and a CPU upgrade frequently needs a BIOS level and sometimes a different heatsink.
Transceiver coding. Many switches only accept transceivers coded for that vendor, and an uncoded SFP+ is simply refused.

Why is my server slow with no errors showing?
Frequently thermal throttling. Processors reduce speed to stay within limits and report no fault. Check intake temperature, fans and air baffles β and check the RAID cache battery, which causes the same symptom for a different reason.
Do scanner batteries perform worse in cold?
Yes, markedly. A scanner that will not hold a shift outdoors or in a freezer is frequently a battery rating problem rather than a faulty unit.

Which LTO generations are backwards compatible?
LTO drives generally read two generations back and write one generation back, with limits that changed from LTO-8 onward. Tell us the drive and the media you hold.
What media survives outdoor field and midstream asset tagging?
Sun, cold, wind and handling destroy direct thermal within months. Thermal transfer with a resin ribbon on a weather-rated facestock is the usual answer β tell us the exposure and expected life.
Do you supply rugged mobile computers for field operations?
Yes. Zebra, Honeywell and Datalogic rugged mobile computers, supplied with the correct interface cable. Tell us the operating temperature range and we will specify units rated for it.
Do you supply scanners for cold storage and food processing?

What is the difference between rugged and washdown-rated?
Rugged means built to survive drops. Washdown means sealed against water and dust ingress. A device that is merely rugged is not sealed against a hose.
What label media works in wet and frozen conditions?
The adhesive has to be rated for both the application temperature and the storage temperature, and print should be thermal transfer with a resin ribbon rather than direct thermal.

What is the difference between read intensive and mixed use SSDs?
Endurance. Read intensive drives are rated around 1 DWPD; mixed use is typically 3 DWPD for databases and virtualisation. A read intensive drive in a write-heavy role wears out early.
What is sector format and why does it matter?
512n, 512e and 4Kn describe how a drive presents its sectors. Mixing formats in one array is refused or unpredictable, and it frequently surfaces during a rebuild rather than at installation.
Should I avoid SMR drives in an array?
Yes, always. SMR write performance collapses part-way through sustained writes, and a rebuild onto an SMR drive can fail outright. We state CMR or SMR on every listing.
Can you tell me the drive hours before I buy?
Yes. The drive reports it exactly and we check before listing.
Do you supply RAID controllers and cache batteries?

What is the difference between RDIMM, UDIMM and LRDIMM?
RDIMM buffers the address and command lines, LRDIMM buffers the data lines too and allows much higher total capacity, and UDIMM is unbuffered. They do not mix in the same system.
Why is my DDR4-3200 memory running at 2666?
Population rules. Filling more ranks or more slots per channel forces the bank to downclock, and the processor also has a maximum supported speed.
Do you supply Xeon E5 v3 and v4 processors?
Yes, along with Xeon Scalable Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum from 8 to 28 cores, and AMD EPYC and Opteron.
Do you supply server power supplies?

Will a 1D laser scanner read 2D codes?
No. Data Matrix and QR codes are 2D and require an imager. A 1D laser cannot read them at all.
Do I need the interface cable with a barcode scanner?
Yes, and it is specific to the interface. We supply the correct cable with the scanner β an omission that matters more when the replacement is a cross-country shipment.
